Who We Are

Nanci Snow Bockelie is licensed to practice law in Utah and New York. Ms Bockelie formed the Bockelie Law Office, L.C. in 1999 to provide excellent business law services to individuals and small businesses. She and the staff work hard to ensure that you receive high quality legal services, and have pleasant interactions with the legal system.

Ms Bockelie and her assistant, Diana Barwald, and the office receptionist will help you navigate the sometimes confusing waters of the legal system.


Nanci Snow Bockelie obtained her law degree from the University of Utah College of Law, Order of the Coif, in 1985. She received numerous awards during law school, including a Richard L. Dewsnup Fellowship and a Mariner S. Eccles Fellowship. She was a William H. Leary Scholar all three years, and a member of the Utah Law Review editorial staff (Administrative Editor).

Ms Bockelie is currently licensed to practice in, and appear before the state and federal courts of, Utah and New York.

Ms Bockelie has authored several publications and made a number of presentations on a variety of legal issues.

Before starting the Bockelie Law Office in 1999, Nanci Snow Bockelie worked for several law firms across the country, providing litigation and transactional services to businesses large and small:

Davis Polk & Wardwell, New York, New York. Practice areas included complex corporate transactions and litigation for clients such as AT&T, Volkswagen of America, ICI, Southern Bell, and Morgan Stanley. Most memorable legal moments: Obtaining a federal court contempt order against the Soviet Union, and silencing the legendary Monday Night Football announcer Howard Cosell in the U.S.F.L. vs. N.F.L. litigation.

Patton, Wornom & Watkins (now Patten, Wornom, Hatten & Diamonstein), Newport News, Virginia. Provided a variety of business law services to small businesses, banks, and individuals, handling such diverse matters as OSHA complaints, cases involving fair labor standards act and unemployment issues, bankruptcy, software licensing, officer-director duties, and commercial loan transactions.

Giauque Crockett Bendinger & Peterson, Salt Lake City, Utah. Practice areas included accountant's malpractice defense, securities litigation, and general business litigation. Most humorous legal moment: When opposing expert in accountant malpractice case testified that he believed a certain "fact" because "it is completely illogical."

Moxley Jones & Campbell, Salt Lake City, Utah. Worked on a variety of civil litigation cases including securities fraud, personal injury, real estate, commercial landlord tenant issues, contract and whistle-blower claims, as well as white collar criminal defense.

Ms Bockelie has won numerous recognitions for her legal work and service to the Bar, including the following:

     * Named one of Utah's Top 100 Real Estate Lawyers by follow attorneys In Utah Business in
     *  Named one of Utah's Top 100 Litigators by follow attorneys In Utah Business in 2003
     *  Recipient of a Heart and Hand Award for volunteer service to "and Justice for all," the Utah
   State Bar's funding mechanism for legal services to low income residents
     *  Elected to the Board of Women Lawyers of Utah in 1997 (President, 1999)
     *  Elected to the Utah State Bar Commission in 2001; appointed CLE Committee Chair, 2010
     *  Elected to the Board of the Utah Women's Alliance for Building Community in 2002
   (President 2006-07)
     *  Elected to the Board of Snowbird Sports Education Foundation (Treasurer 2005-07)



Other community service includes Democratic Party, Salt Lake County and Utah State Convention
Caucus Delegate (2004-2006 and 2010-2014); Christ United Methodist Church, Salt Lake City, UT (Stewardship Committee Chair 2010-2014, Trustee 2001-2005, President 2005); First Methodist Church, Hampton, VA Board of Visitors (1990-92); Columbia Kayak Club, Columbia University, NYC (Co-President 1988); the Community Food Co-op, Salt Lake City, UT (Treasurer, ca. 1981); service as Cub Scout Den Mother, Brownie Scout Leader and Junior Girl Scout Leader.

Ms Bockelie's hobbies include skiing, hiking, biking and white water boating in our beautiful mountains and redrock country.

Ms Bockelie is the proud mother of two adult children who have not (yet) come back home to live
